You're a celebrity.....let me steal your look!

From the moment I saw Lorde's Royals video I knew that I needed to recreate that look. An hour and three U Tube tutorials later I’d learnt all the techniques I needed. With a night out in Leeds coming up that week I practised the look three times, by Saturday night I had it mastered.

As a make up artist I like to think I fall under the creative category, but the majority of my inspiration comes from other people’s ideas. My wedding make up looks are all inspired by looks in books and magazines. My occasion make up by what the celebrities are wearing. So should I be more creative in the looks I create despite the fact that I love copying other peoples ideas. With a full time job and as a part time MUA I think it’s acceptable to ‘steal’ other peoples ideas. If I’d spent time creating a look I’d love to walk to down the street seeing other people wearing it.

The Lorde look was a hit and I think I’ll be working it again this weekend, although maybe this time I’ll try and give it a Make Up Kit twist!

Here are few other looks I've been inspired by. Emma Stone and Kim Kardashion never fail in the make up department....

Living the dream.....

I've been thinking about blogging for a while, but my over riding thought was always who'd be interested in what I have to say. I'm still not convinced anyone will, but after talking to a colleague and dedicated blogger to today I've decided to take the plunge. My next thought, what will I talk about? Make up, yes, but I'm not some young fashionista making their way in the beauty world. I'm a thirty something woman who two years ago decided to train as a make up artist in a bid to hopefully live the dream. And what is the dream?  To have a successful business, become the best MUA I can be and the ultimate dream....to give up my full time career in Criminal Justice and make my living as a make up artist.

So my plan is to talk about the ups and downs of trying to build a business when work, social life and lack of motivation get in the way!
